Community Benefit
CB priorities include:
- Access to care
- Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL)
- Violence Prevention
- Mental Behavioral Health
- Economic Security
Funding amount and duration:
- Up to $70,000
- Up to 1 year
- Calendar year award
- Approximately 33 projects are funded per year
- Renewal for one additional year is possible, but not automatic. PI must re-apply for a renewal.
Due dates and application items:
- 2nd Monday in March: Inform Local Research Chair (LRC) of intent to apply
- 1st Monday in April: Complete draft of narrative application must be submitted to
LRC* for scientific review
- 2nd Monday in May: Request for
Biostatistical Consultation must be submitted to
Research Collaboration Portal on the current application form.
- 2nd Monday after the 4th of July (by midnight): Complete applications (including LRC, Chief, PIC, and Area Manager approvals from all study sites) are due electronically to
DOR Central-Research-Committee@kp.org
- Funding announcements by end of September.

Garfield Memorial Fund
Emphasis:
- Projects should have potential impact across multiple KP regions and, ideally, involve at least 2 regions.
- Strong operations emphasis.
Funding amount and duration:
- Funding amount varies
- 12-18 month project duration

- Due dates vary
- Applications require:
1. Initial 1-2 page concept paper and endorsement from an executive partner (e.g., TPMG PIC or AED; a KFH or KFHP senior VP)
2. Full proposal, which may require iterative submissions and reviews
