Getting Started with Research Overview

Research Guidance and Training

Research Guidance

Connect with your Local Research Chairs (LRC), Specialty Research Network
leads and other experienced Investigators. They can help you:

  • Formulate your research question
  • Identify potential collaborators
  • Get connected to resources

Note: all projects are required to have approval from local leadership.

Take Training Courses on KP Learn

If you are new to research or simply need a refresher, take these
online research training courses available at KP Learn.

Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Research Compliance

Before you begin your project, familiarize yourself with the IRB. If you are unsure if your project will require IRB approval, complete a Research Determination Request Form.

Research Collaborations

The Division of Research transforms health through research and finds the best ways to deliver health care to Kaiser Permanente members and society.

Information for Resident Researchers

Many KP residency programs have a built-in research requirement. Research resident projects are supported by medical center based project managers, and biostatisticians and programmer/analysts, as needed.
